We are looking for a Data Engineer II who will execute strategic vision for our operational and analytical data pipelines. The ideal candidate should understand the principles and practices needed to ensure that data processes are robust, secure, and reproducible. The Data Engineer II will support our data analysts and business stakeholders in ensuring consistent, accurate data delivery.

We are looking to hire a Data Engineering II on the Business Operations Data team within the Engineering & Operations organization at UKG. The Business Operations Data team provides the necessary infrastructure and automation for users to effortlessly analyze and act on a variety of different datasets. The team plays a critical role in ensuring our 2,500-person organization has best-in-class operations. You will interact with engineering, cloud, operations, product, finance, human resources, sales, marketing, and analytics teams.

• Design, maintain and build pipelines using best practices such as automated deployment, synchronized isolated workspaces, automated testing, monitoring, version control, and CI/CD principles
• Use data, logic, and intuition to improve business outcomes through analysis, insights, reports, and actionable recommendations
• Develop democratized dashboards, data sets, and KPIs that empower less technical owners and operators across the business to make data-driven business decisions
• Design durable and forward-looking data models and data sets for the analytics team to develop on and provide technical direction to other analysts
• Partner with data and business process analysts to gather data and create pipelines
• Maintain the source of truth for analysts and BI users with high performance and availability
• Maintain transparency through ticketing and documentation
• Work in an agile working environment: weekly sprints, daily scrums
• Pull data from a multitude of sources using pipelines to create analytics assets

Qualifications

• BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
• 2+ years of data engineering experience, 3+ preferred
• Proficiency with Python
• Knowledge of database design and architecture: relational, document, embedding, graph
• Experience building tools and components for data platform products
• Experience in building batch and streaming ETL/ELT pipelines
• Experience with data pipeline and orchestration technologies such as NiFi, Airflow or Kafka
• Experience with data platform components like Data Catalog, Data Lake, Data Orchestration, Data Warehouse
• Experience with DevOps tooling: git, CI/CD
• Experience with containerization technologies: Docker, Kubernetes
• Experience with commercial clouds
• Experience creating systems for monitoring data quality and generating alerts
• Design and implement robust data pipelines
• Implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, etc.
