UKG is seeking a DevOps engineer to join our internal engineering operations and support team. In this role, your customers are engineers throughout the rest of the organization. Your responsibilities will vary daily with a constant goal of providing timely, first class support and environment operations to Engineers as part of an Agile team.

The ideal candidate will have hands on experience providing technical support for engineering or software development environments and some knowledge/experience in DevOps, cloud infrastructure or SaaS engineering preferably with GCP knowledge. This position requires customer focus, excellent written and verbal communication, attention to detail, organization and the ability to work both alone and as part of a team.

Responsibilities and duties

• Provide technical support for all engineering environments, infrastructure, and systems including shared services deployments, upgrades, and maintenance.
• Implement and maintain monitoring and alerting systems to ensure that engineering environments are running effectively at all times
• Follow state runbooks as well as utilize troubleshooting skills to restore service as quickly as possible in the event of an outage
• Actively monitor the application & infrastructure in engineering environments, react to alerts properly and perform root cause analysis
• Perform validations after scheduled changes within specified maintenance windows ensuring proper functionality
• Provide day to day support to 1000+ engineering organization through a support queue following stated SLAs and processes.
• Enhance knowledge base documentation used throughout engineering to allow self-service wherever possible

Qualifications

• Experience with Linux required
• BS/BA Degree in Computer science or other Engineering discipline
• 0-2 years experience providing technical support for engineering or software development environments.
• Strong support mindset.
• Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Highly motivated and a team player
• Knowledge of java, tomcat, PostgreSQL, ansible, python, bash shell scripting a plus
