We are looking for an experienced hands on Lead Data Engineer to help manage existing data resources, implement new technologies and tooling to enable analytics, as well as help drive scalable data sharing practices. You will own data environments, integrate with new technologies, and oversee the development of new processes that support the analytics team. This opportunity requires you to be able to contribute at a lead level to help architect, design, develop, troubleshoot, test and debug data pipelines. You will be working directly with our analytics team to support data visualization and insights.

The ideal candidate is a Swiss army knife/jack of all when it comes to data engineering and brings outstanding communication skills, proven data infrastructure design and implementation capabilities, strong business acumen, and an innate drive to deliver results. They will be an Agile self-starter, comfortable with ambiguity and will enjoy working in a start up like environment.

Essential Duties:
• Design systems using dataops best practices such as automated deployment, synchronized isolated workspaces, automatic testing, monitoring of data pipelines, “don’t repeat yourself”, version control, and CI/CD principles.
• Partner with business stakeholders and technology leaders to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions and system designs.
• Build consensus around solutions where possible and giving direction when needed.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills with demonstrated ability to explain technical info to non-technical audience in a clear, focused, and concise manner.
• Maintain the engineering datamart for analysts and BI tools with high performance and availability.
• Design conceptual/logical/physical entity relationship and/or relational models for the datamart allowing implementation of flexible reporting capability.
• Own and influence our analytics data model.
• Assist in hiring and onboarding a team of data engineers and dataops engineers.
• Oversee workstreams for 2-3 data engineers.
• Run with open-ended requirements to mockup features, iterating and improving design and code.
• Maintain transparency through Trello ticketing and documentation.
• Work in an agile working environment: weekly sprints, daily scrums.
• Pull data from a multitude of sources using pipelines to create analytics assets.

The successful professional will bring to this role:
• 5+ years of experience building data pipelines.
• Experience with implementing dataops best practices.
• Experience in one of the cloud data eco systems (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
• Experience with all facets of data pipeline construction - ETL/Real-time, data management and consumption, architectures, tooling etc.
• Experience with version control, ci/cd, shared workspaces, containers, automated testing and monitoring, and automated deployment.
• A mix of analytical, technical, and operational, but above all, a team player.
• A clear and confident communication style. You love taking a complicated problem, decomposing it, solving it and getting stakeholder buy in on the solution.
• Ability to work through competing priorities and stakeholder needs; the ability to prioritize tasks will be critical to your success in this role.
• Experience guiding and mentoring individual contributors in best practices and problem solving while also rolling up your sleeves and solving problems yourself.


In support of our culture, we will be adopting a hybrid working model that offers work from home flexibility and a physical presence of 2-3 days a week in our Weston office.

Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, STEM, or equivalent experience along with 8+ years overall engineering experience, with a minimum of 5 years of data engineering experience.
• Experiencing mentoring a data engineering team.
• Expert SQL skills.
• Strong data warehouse and/or datamart experience.
• Expert Python skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience implementing dataops best practices.
• Experience maintaining architecture and data marts for analytical teams.
• Hands on experience with at least one of the dataops products like DataKitchen etc.
• Prior programming experience.
