Description

The UKG OneWeb product development teams are seeking a motivated and experienced DevOps Engineer with a background in building web applications, managing CI/CD deployment pipelines, automated testing, capacity planning, performance analysis, monitoring, alerting, chaos engineering and auto remediation. You will be working alongside team Developers and Business Analysts helping us make progress on our journey towards a CI/CD, Devops culture by:

• Helping us understand how our services are behaving – including capturing metrics using code instrumentation techniques and creating dashboards to observe application health
• Bring value to our customers by deploying services with incredible speed, consistency and availability.
• Building and maintaining tools, solutions and microservices associated with deployment, ensuring that all meet our customer service standards and reduce errors
• Working with the engineering team to actively troubleshoot any issues that arise during testing and production.
• In support of our culture, we have adopted a hybrid working model of 3 days per week in the office and the rest of the week from home.
• Testing our system integrity, implemented designs, application developments and other processes related to infrastructure, making improvements as needed

Primary/Essential Duties and Key Responsibilities:

• Engage in and improve the lifecycle of services from conception to EOL, including: system design consulting, and capacity planning
• Define and implement standards and best practices related to: Service delivery, metrics and the automation of operational tasks
• Support services, product & engineering teams by providing common tooling and frameworks to deliver increased availability and improved incident response.
• Improve system performance, application delivery and efficiency through automation, process refinement, postmortem reviews, and in-depth configuration analysis
• Collaborate closely with engineering professionals within the organization to deliver reliable services
• Identify and eliminate operational toil by treating operational challenges as a software engineering problem
• Actively participate in incident response, including on-call responsibilities

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
• 7+ years of experience in application troubleshooting.
• 7+ years of experience with cloud computing platforms.
• 7+ years of experience with observability fundamentals, including monitoring, alerting, and analytics.

Preferred Qualifications:
• 7+ years of experience with DevOps principles and approaches.
• 7+ years of experience with CI/CD fundamentals.
• 7+ years of experience with configuration management and infrastructure orchestration (IaC).
• General understanding of networking architecture and protocols.
• Demonstrated knowledge of best practices in metric generation, log aggregation, time-series databases, and distributed tracing.
• General understanding of version control technologies.
• General understanding of software quality assurance and software testing.
• Fluent usage of Kubernetes management tools.
• General understanding of database internals and SQL.
• Strong scripting skills (e.g., Bash, Python).
• Familiarity with cloud-based applications and containerization technologies.
