Description & Qualifications


The Lead Finance Project Manager will report to the Sr. Manager, Business Projects and Process within the Finance Initiatives Program Office (FIPO). The person in this role will be responsible for planning and coordinating cross-functional business activities and managing the successful completion of tasks, milestones, and overall project deliverables, while working collaboratively with business stakeholders and IT project management. Leveraging an understanding of finance-centric goals and activities, the Lead Finance Project Manager will proactively identify and mitigate risks and influence decisions to ensure a successful business and project outcome. In addition to project related activities, the Lead Finance Project Manager will coordinate with IT and other Finance and FIPO team members on scoping, process design, requirements gathering, testing, change management, training, communications, stakeholder analysis, and performance measurement-related activities.

Key responsibilities:

Utilize the project management discipline to lead and manage multiple concurrent, Finance initiatives and technology projects with substantial risk and complexity

Identify, schedule and track project deliverables, milestones and required tasks and measure and report progress toward completion

Act as an advocate for Finance and FIPO to ensure Finance business needs are met on time and with quality

Proactively establish the project plan for each phase, including finalizing scope and negotiating resource availability in advance of project initiation

Improve communication and collaboration between Finance and other business and IT stakeholders, including developing an understanding of respective challenges

Communicate weekly status on individual projects to functional team members, champions, and leadership

Proactively identify and escalate project issues such as timing, budget, and resource constraints, and provide mitigation recommendations to management and others

Lead or participate in retrospectives and celebrate team successes

Propagate basic project management competencies throughout Finance through role modeling and coaching

Contribute to the design and development of the Finance PMO offerings, process and procedures, and the development of project execution strategies

Foster a continuous improvement mindset and global focus throughout Finance, and promote adoption of new concepts and ideas

Perform other duties or activities upon request


Undergraduate degree at a minimum

Minimum 10-12 years’ experience in business project management, PMP and/or Agile certification a plus

Experience with multiple project management methodologies such as Agile

Finance and/or Accounting knowledge or experience desired

Strong planning and organizational skills with proven experience managing multiple, cross-functional concurrent projects

Proven experience with technology projects, system integration, user acceptance testing and business readiness coordination

Proven ability to evaluate issues, challenge norms, and identify and drive continuous improvements and innovation

Proven leadership and conflict resolution skills

Ability to influence key stakeholders and decision makers

Ability to transform ambiguity into clarity and simplify complex concepts and processes for ease of understanding

Detail-oriented, results and quality-focused

Strong customer-orientation and business acumen skills

Excellent verbal and written communication, including presentation skills

Change management acuity

Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team and virtual environment

Proficiency in standard project management tools (Clarity a plus), Microsoft Office suite, SharePoint, and collaboration applications
