UKG is looking for a passionate Lead Software Engineer with a wide range of application development experience. The Lead Software Engineer needs to be able to think strategically and operate tactically to be able to deliver on the technical vision of the company. The Lead Software Engineer will work with clients, product managers, analysts, architects and engineers to plan, design, develop, test and implement information technology solutions consistent with the business objective.
Job Responsibilities:
• Develop & enhance effective programs & data structures that successfully meet the objective.
• Participate effectively in relevant aspects of software development life cycle (SDLC) including planning, construction, testing, reviews and demonstrations.
• Collaborate with team to design, develop, test and refine deliverables.
• Investigate and resolve complex application issues as needed package, configure and deploy software
• Review and create system, software and functional design specifications that address requirements.
• Collaborate with clients, Product Managers, Architects, & Analysts to develop and review requirements & design.
• Participate in project planning and release management.
• Acts as an expert source of technology and application knowledge within their domain.
• Research, recommend, and introduce new technologies and new uses of existing technologies Participating in Business planning, IT strategy and setting direction.
• Perform insightful and constructive code reviews to help maintain and teach proper coding techniques and ensure that your fellow developers are considering all pertinent factors in order to prevent regression defects or the introduction of problematic code
• Able to independently perform day to day activities with no instruction, using proper judgment to determine when to involve stakeholders with decisions regarding the overall function or direction of a given feature or application scenario.
• Ability to mentor the junior developers on the team.


• Expert knowledge of full stack java based web development: SQL, Java, J2EE, REST framework, React, HTML, JavaScript, CSS, Spring, XML, AJAX, Version Control (Git, BitBucket), application servers and web servers.
• Strong SQL skills – including Stored Procedures, Functions, Triggers (SQL server preferred)
• Familiar with Agile development methodologies
• Version control systems and methodologies (GIT preferred)
• BS/MS degree in Computer Science or related discipline or equivalent experience
• 8+ years industry experience in Enterprise Application Development Programming concepts, design patterns, OOP, BDD
