UKG is seeking a Lead Software Engineer with experience developing reactive, event-driven microservices with Kafka Streams. The individual will work as a Leader, Developer, and Developer Advocate, working closely with product development teams to enable them to quickly build scalable and resilient services.

We’re looking for engineers with a solid development experience and a strong background in SRE and DevOps practices. We’re interested in people with a strong background and interest in building successful shared solutions or libraries in a rapidly growing environment. Job Responsibilities
• Actively promote a sense of community around the set of tools we provide
• Engage in Communications across all areas of the organization
• Research, design, test, and evaluate technologies for building distributed, event-driven systems 
• Implement POCs and pair with other members of the team on implementations 
• Improve the developer experience for product development teams 
• Develop tools and services to empower development teams to follow best practices around Observability, Quality and Site Reliability
• Mentor other developers, fostering an environment of continued learning and improvement 
• Empower the team to deliver quality software in a timely manner and continuously improve the development process 
• Write high-quality code that is supported by an appropriate level of testing and metrics


• 5 or more years engaging and working with cross-functional enterprise level software development projects using Agile development methodologies
• Ability to manage and balance multiple deliverables concurrently in an environment with shifting priorities
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills coupled with strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills
• Self-motivated, continuous improvement mindset and willing to “do what it takes” to get the job done
• Experience building event-driven microservices with Kafka
• Experience working with Kubernetes, Docker, and public cloud deployment platforms
• Proficient with CQRS and Event Sourcing
• Knowledge of microservices architecture
• Experience with MongoDB or other NoSQL databases
• Experience with Java, Scala, or Kotlin
• Experience with Typescript and Node.JS is a plus
