Responsibilities
• Translate strategy, business requirements and usability best practices into high-quality, customer-centric, and consumer-grade designs that support and reinforce UKG’s product vision, brand, and business objectives
• Architect, design and support new interfaces/experiences by creating low and high-fidelity wireframes, mockups, and prototypes
• Take on full accountability for the product experience of critical domain areas in the UKG Ready suite by strategically engaging with the product triad (Product, UX and engineering) and aligning on priorities, plan and delivering value
• Balance user experience, business needs, technical feasibility, and time-to-market to determine best product designs by driving experience vision and ensuring high quality design implementation through product lifecycle and releases
• Collaborate with product teams and our inhouse accessibility program to deliver on UKG mission to offer meaningful and inclusive product experiences for all users
• Champion customer-centric, responsive/adaptive design methodologies
• Collaborate with UX researchers to identify the right problems and opportunities to work on and test concepts, perform task and user analysis, and assist with user acceptance testing
• Navigate cross-functionally across the organization to form partnerships beyond product management and engineering in areas like support, implementation services, presales etc.
• Develop lean design practices and processes to maintain quality and efficiency of the design practice
Qualifications
Basic/minimum requirements• Degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Information design, Graphic design, or a related design or behavioral science discipline; or equivalent work experience.
• 5+ years of professional UX/UI design experience of software applications, to include leading projects; note that a portfolio is required.
Practitioners with more experience may be considered as well.
• Experience training and/or mentoring other designers
• Proficiency in using Figma, Sketch, and other design tools
• Able to work 3 days per week onsite in our Lowell office, as of day one
Preferred traits
• Strong analytical skills to identify and break down complex problems into solvable parts without losing sight of the overall user flow and journey
• Compelling story telling and presentation skills: the ability to sell ideas, to describe and advocate for product experiences in a compelling and convincing way that promotes the values we are bringing to the users
• Obsessive attention to details with the ability to work with existing design language patterns but unafraid to identify the opportunities and push the envelope for innovation
• Experience in the Workforce and Human Capital management area is a plus
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with business owners as well as developers; must have the ability to articulate design rationale in discussions and in presentations
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, agile, startup-like environment.
