Description

The Manager, Platform Engineering oversees IT teams that are providing support for production, testing and development databases and platforms, both on-prem and in the cloud. This role is key to mission critical business applications that require 24-7 support, incident management, change management and identifying key process methods for efficient delivery of services.


● Responsible for managing daily workflow, project work, and team task assignments.
● Act as point of escalation and provide senior level direction for Incidents and Projects.
● Oversee all projects to ensure quality of work meets expectations, business, and technical requirements.
● Work with stakeholders to understand, prioritize and estimate team resources required for project work efforts.
● Responsible for systems documentation of topology, system configurations.
● Develops and maintains development methodology (templates, processes and deliverables) and ensures all IT resources understand their responsibilities in this process.
● Ensure best practices are followed in all areas.
● Set strategic direction for the design and deployment of corporate databases including Oracle, SQL Server, both on prem and in the cloud.
● Provide leadership in maintenance and deployment for enterprise platforms including Microsoft Dynamics 365 FinOps, Informatica and Enterprise Data Warehouse
● Develop and execute on long range technology strategy roadmaps
● Continuously assess current technology footprint and market trends, drive technology decisions, lead POCs of new solutions/capabilities
● Drive and encourage high levels of automation throughout the organization.
● Creates a work environment that encourages creative thinking and innovation.
● Regularly drive performance development discussions with direct reports.
● Handles all HR responsibilities for direct reports
● Work closely with security, compliance and change management teams to ensure processes, procedures, and best practices all conform to all required compliance audits.
● Assist in producing budget including training, salary planning, bonuses and position management.
● Manages and reviews system lifecycles, licensing, invoices, SOWs and contracts.
● Assist in vendor/consulting selection (when required) and overseeing their when engaged).
● Builds and maintains strong peer relationships within the team and across the organization.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications: (If a Bona Fide Occupational Qualification, otherwise it is preferred)
(Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)
● 5+ years in a relevant senior leadership role
● 10+ years’ experience information systems technologies (ie: Infrastructure, Database Systems – SQL Server, Oracle)
● 5+ years of experience with enterprise application platforms (ie: Microsoft Dynamics 365 FinOps, Informatica etc)
● 5+ years of experience with Cloud technology (ie: Azure, GCP, AWS)
● Experience managing teams responsible for enterprise production systems.
● Lead system related architecture discussions
● Senior level experience developing long range technology strategy.
● Able to look at the big picture, speculate and conceptualize outcomes and identify trends
● Determined and willing to do what it takes to get the job done

(Experience, Education, Certification, License and Training)
● Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems or related discipline preferred.
● Certification in related discipline

Preferred Qualifications:
● Broad range of knowledge across cloud services technologies.
● Excellent written and verbal communication skills
● Team player, someone who is friendly, genuine and desires to collaborate with a dynamic team
● Ability to partner with other departments and business leads who are not as technical in nature.
● Drive process, and architecture discussions at a technical and business level.
