Description
The Payroll Coordinator is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely processing of Canada payroll for ~800 employees in a multi-province environment and LATAM payroll for ~100 employees. This position requires effectively managing priorities with great attention to detail while performing a wide variety of routine record-keeping and payroll processing activities, including computing wages and special payments, calculating and recording payroll deductions.• Assist in processing and guarantying disbursement of multi-province/ multi-country payroll, including garnishments, benefits, and taxes, consistent with federal and provincial wages and hour laws
• Process end to end payroll on a biweekly, semi-monthly and monthly basis including time-transfers and signoffs, gross-to-net checks, check printing, reconciliations, bank interfaces, tax interfaces and benefit & compensation integrations
• Ensure that the processing of new hires, temporary workers, transfers, promotions, and terminations is accurate and timely
• Reconcile non-routine employee pay including commissions, bonus, length of service awards
• Reconcile Processing of Severance, Maternity and Parental leave payments
• Respond to employee inquires on all Payroll topics.
• Collaborate with 3rd party payroll vendors to ensure timely and accurate processing of LATAM payrolls.
Tax, Audit & Compliance
• Assist with tax files to vendors and kick-off funding requests
• Assist with audits as it pertains to employee records, workers’ compensation, tax filings, RRSP, and related documentation
• Assist with various testing on application updates or new product features
Qualifications
• Associate degree in Accounting or Business Administration• 4+ years of Canada payroll experience with some international experience
• Payroll Compliance Practitioner, PCP Certification
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in French/English, both orally and in writing.
• Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
• Experience with payroll application such as UKG Workforce Dimensions or UKG Pro
• Well-organized, extreme attention to detail and a self-directed individual
• Advanced knowledge of current rules, regulations, laws, principles, and practices related to Canada payroll processing.
• Knowledge of data protection and privacy laws
• Strong teamwork and time management skills.
• Strong critical thinking, problem solving
• Strong focus on customer service.
• Strong sense of urgency and ensure confidentiality of sensitive information.
• Ability to build and maintain effective internal and external working relationships.
• Ability to ensure confidentiality of sensitive information from intentional or unintentional disclosure.
