Description & Qualifications

Your main role, as part of the Architecture Governance team, will be to work closely across the community of product architects to build out and administer the repository architecture models of UKG’s product suites, applying our fit-for-purpose framework and specific modeling standards. The architect modeling role will involve hands-on model creation of application, business, data, and technology views in ARIS, and is also responsible for many tool administration processes, such as model reviews that ensure the quality of models and reusable objects. A large part of this role is also mentoring the architecture community, which overall has very little experience diagramming to standards or using a modeling tool, and therefore may not see the power and value of a maintained architecture repository that contains multiple viewpoints for each version of each product.

This job has a counterpart employee in India who started Oct 2021. Together, you will share ARIS administrator and modeling tasks, will both have opportunities to provide input into UKG’s architecture modeling standards, and your combined time zones will help ensure that all product and Engineering architects will have access to mentoring and coaching for ARIS or modeling in general.

Note that while this job requires a heavy up-front effort for modeling, after some time, the tool and processes will become routine and largely in maintenance mode. At this point, there will be opportunities to get involved in some of the other work happening in Architecture Governance.

Initial Job Responsibilities:
• Collect data and be a major contributor of building models
• Administer the Architecture Modeling Tool (ARIS) and its data repository, including:
o Maintaining the objects that need to be separate and those that need to be reused
o Version control of objects and models per product release
o Identify the right people for the different types of licenses within the tools
o Ensure model authors are reusing objects versus creating their own
o Ensure there are no incorrect objects or models within the tool
• Review architecture models to ensure standards are met.
• Work with Architecture Governance leadership and your colleague to:
o Develop and roll out education to teams and drive alignment to standardized practices
o Provide thought leadership in the creation of new standards, and coordinate communication of new/updated the standards to the community of architects
• Generate inputs to the reporting of architecture governance metrics.

• Bachelors or Masters degree in Information Technology, Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, or related studies and two years experience in modeling systems – OR –
3+ years in system or software engineering and 2+ years in architecture modeling
• Some prior experience and knowledge with Cloud environments
• Demonstrated experience in model creation for system or application architectures
• Demonstrated experience modeling to an industry standard (e.g. DoDAF, TOGAF, BPMN)
• Experience with an enterprise architecture (EA) modeling tool
• Attention to detail as applicable to modeling, modeling reviews, and standards enforcement
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work well in a team
• Ability to work in North America’s East Coast time zone
