Principal Architect, UKG Kronos Systems, LLC, Lowell, MA (Hybrid)

Position Summary:

Member of Team responsible for architecting solutions in a complex technical landscape in the public Cloud, which serves as the foundation for Kronos’ enterprise SaaS offerings. Will play an integral part of enterprise-scale Cloud initiatives at Kronos including provisioning, configuring and supporting infrastructure services in the public Cloud.
Essential Functions:
Specific duties include the following:
• Establishing and documenting conceptual, logical, and physical architecture designs for Cloud services and service components to enable optimized solutions that are highly available, highly scalable, and cost-effective.
• Collaborating with technical and business Teams to assess technical requirements.
• Evaluating, prototyping, and selecting infrastructure solutions adhering to architecture standards for availability, reliability, scalability, recoverability, manageability, etc.
• Documenting existing and new designs for implementation by infrastructure build engineers. This involves reviewing deployments to confirm architecture alignment.
• Understanding industry standards and best practices, and proactively researching new and updated technologies as they become available.
• Reviewing service performance and recommending strategies to achieve higher performance and availability.
• Collaborating with vendors and solution partners in evaluating new technologies.
• Architecting designs and solutions to achieve requirements for SOC1/2 compliance and in accordance with business and technical objectives.
• Defining and designing technical solutions to ensure business continuity (DR/Backup)
• Conducting security reviews of designs working with Cloud and corporate security.
• Providing technical guidance to implementation and operations Teams.
• Presenting designs to cross-functional stakeholders including architects and senior leadership.


Education, Training, and Experience:

Position requires either: (i) Bachelor’s degree (or an equivalent foreign degree) in Computer Science or Computer Engineering, IT or a closely related field and 6 years of experience as a Cloud Systems Engineer or (ii) 8 years of experience as a Cloud Systems Engineer. Must also have 5 years of experience (which can have been gained concurrently with either primary experience requirement above) working with the following:

• Designing cloud solutions for large-scale enterprise environments including IAM, networking, deployment topology design, and naming convention designs as part of the solution considerations;
• At least two public cloud platforms, specifically Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Amazon Web Services (AWS), and/or Microsoft Azure Cloud;
• Leading and executing public to private cloud migrations and hybrid cloud projects;
• Performing data encryption, network security, compliance frameworks and cloud security designs, including designing and implementing Identity and Access Management processes and tooling for cloud environments with over five thousand named user and service accounts;
• Cloud-native architectures and development frameworks, CI/CD pipeline design, DevOps practices, microservices, containerization, serverless computing, and distributed systems; and
• Cloud automation, infrastructure-as-code, and configuration management tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, Chef) as well as architecting and optimizing cloud-based data solutions, including data lakes, data warehousing, and real-time analytics.

This is a hybrid position working 3 days from our office in Lowell, Massachusetts and 2 days from a home office.
