UKG is hiring a Principal Software Engineer (Backend/Full-stack), who would be responsible for analyzing, designing & developing our high performance software products to meet customer requirements. The candidate must demonstrate good analytical abilities, attention to detail and verbal & written English communication skill. As a Software Engineer, you will be embedded on an agile development team. The individual would also be involved in mentoring the team on technology concepts and best practices to debug & troubleshoot issues. They should have payroll domain knowledge, US taxation and year-end filling knowledge would be a plus.

• Collaborate closely with Senior Engineers and Architects to understand and help in conceptualizing the software architecture
• To ensure adherence of the development team to the architectural vision of the product and the associated design follow that vision
• Collaborate with other members of the team, product owners, quality engineering team members and documentation writers to ensure appropriate implementation of business requirements
• Collaborate closely with architects to design and conceptualize solutions for multi-tenant/SaaS based offering of the product
• A mentoring role for other developers, building the skills of less experienced team members and proactively suggesting process improvements as a technical leader within the team
• Contribute towards actively increasing product code coverage by writing effective Junit test cases
• Participates in the writing of technical documents (functional specifications, design documents, etc.) as required
• Estimate the work required for new features

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience in Java/J2EE, Multithreading, Spring/Hibernate, REST API, Microservices, XML
• SQL Server/Oracle/MySQL - Ability to write complex SQL queries and decipher stored procedures, triggers, scheduled jobs, ability to identify when table indexing would benefit query performance
• Event-driven architecture
• Experience in object-oriented analysis, design & programming, database modeling, etc.
• Exposure in Agile methodology preferably Scrum practices
• Excellent debugging/troubleshooting skills
• Experience with messaging/event streaming platforms (e.g. RabbitMQ, Kafka)
• Teamwork is a must
• The ability to clearly document and articulate the root cause of issues and resolutions to customers both verbally and written within the context of a customer service case
• Knowledge of performance monitoring APM tools (e.g. New Relic, Dynatrace, etc.)

Nice to have:
• AuthN & AuthZ experience with OAuth, JWT Tokens
• React JS/Node JS/Angular JS, any UI framework will be a plus
• Experience in Java11, Spring, Microservices, GCP, RabbitMQ
• Quality Minded - Writes Unit, Integration & System tests with all coding changes
• Good understanding of Software Security practices
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills and passion for cutting edge technologies
• Experience in database techniques/tools such as data modeling, Oracle, MySQL, SQL Server, etc.
• Identify trends in customer cases/issues and recommend areas where resolutions can be automated
