Description & Qualifications


The Senior Knowledge Engineer for structured authoring / DITA will be the UKG champion for the practice and will be accountable for its success and related business benefits
• Understand, educate, evangelize, and communicate updates on structured authoring and DITA to ensure user satisfaction and efficiency, including scalable content reuse and content localization
• Train and provide support to users on processes for structured authoring, DITA, content organization, and metadata tagging
• Communicate complex concepts clearly and persuasively to non-technical audiences
• Collaborate with Content and Community Solutions technical experts when warranted, including troubleshooting steps taken to resolve user and system issues
• Collaborate with users and Content and Community Solutions technical experts to create and design component-based content models using DITA
• Support the localization of content, including processes for accessing base content and uploading new content into the CCMS and WCMS
• Drive continuous improvement of content development processes to ensure content production, review, and maintenance are highest quality possible
• Work cross-functionally to ensure alignment with enterprise product taxonomy for content
• Identify content gaps and opportunities and make improvement recommendations
• Analyze and report on content quality, usage, and business benefits
• Work with related tech vendors to stay abreast of new features and advocate for improved functionality and features


• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Technology, a related field, or equivalent experience
• Expertise in content design and development using DITA, ideally in a large enterprise environment, preferably B2B
• Experience with Component Content Management Systems (CCMS), such as Heretto
• Experience with Content Management Systems (CMS) such as Ingeniux
• Experience with version control software such as GitHub
• Familiarity with CSS, xPath, and xslt
• Familiarity with learning industry standards (eg., SCORM, xAPI, LTI, etc.)
• Demonstrated experience translating complex information into clear, easy-to-understand experiences
• Ability to guide content design for impactful information experiences
• Familiarity with user-centered design principles
• Strong communication, presentation, interpersonal, and analytical skills
• Basic technical knowledge of HTML, CSS, and online publishing
• Knowledge of SEO and web traffic metrics
