UKG is currently seeking a Site Reliability Engineer with a passion for customer-driven, collaborative, highly technical work to join a team focused on reliability and resiliency of UKG's flagship product, Workforce Dimensions. Our team's mission is to be a center of excellence For reliability engineering, providing best practices, tooling, and standard libraries to share with product teams to improve reliability versus cost. The candidate will have a software engineering background, exposure to cloud and application development technologies, be skilled in managing reliable large-scale production services, and display demonstrated ability to actively collaborate across a distributed organization focusing on enablement and problem-solving.

• Collaborate closely with engineering professionals within the organization to deliver reliable services
• Identify and eliminate operational toil by treating operational challenges as a software engineering problem and refusing manual work as a long-term solution to any issue
• Develop shared libraries and boilerplate services that provide observability and telemetry by default
• Actively participate in incident response, participating in on-call responsibilities
• Partner with engineering teams to collect and alert on the health of critical business functions and underlying technology to drive changes to improve it
• Analyze current technology utilized and engineering practices within the company and develop steps and processes to improve and expand upon them

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in computer science, software engineering or equivalent experience
• 5+ years of experience as a software engineer, cloud architect
• Strong experience with Java or equivalent experience with other modern languages welcome (Go, Python, etc)
• Experience running customer-facing cloud services at scale, preferably containerized services orchestrated with Kubernetes (GKE is preferred)
• Demonstrable fundamentals in 2 of the following: Computer Science, Cloud Architecture, Security, or Network Design fundamentals
• A strong belief that declarative environments defined and tested as code offer the best path to reliable services
• Demonstrated understanding of best practices in metric generation and collection, log aggregation pipelines, time-series databases, and distributed tracing
• Prior experience partnering with product teams to influence software development appreciated
