Description & Qualifications


As a Sr. Director of Market Strategy, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our organization’s ability to compete effectively in the marketplace. Your primary responsibility will be to develop and execute strategic plans cross-functionally that directly impact our ability to effectively respond to changing competitive dynamics and market conditions, as well as serve as an external evangelist to raise awareness of UKG’s enterprise payroll and workforce management offerings with key industry influencers and industry organizations. Specifically, you will focus on working with business partners across Marketing, Finance, Sales, Product, and Services to design and deliver on programs such as strategic pricing and packaging, targeted competitive promotions, strategic implementation packaging, and developing targeted customer references to respond to specific competitive situations. In addition, you will build relationships with key industry influencers and industry organizations (such as to raise awareness of UKG’s enterprise offerings and differentiation from other SaaS HCM players.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Strategic Planning:
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (including marketing, sales, services and product development) to develop comprehensive pricing, packaging, and launch strategies to improve UKG’s ability to compete in key segments of the market.
• Create actionable plans that address competitive threats and capitalize on our strengths.
• Align our market positioning with our overall business goals.

2. Program Execution:
• Assign program deliverables, hold the business accountable for execution, and track progress.
• Develop key metrics to measure progress and effectiveness of program.
• Report out regularly on progress and results to Senior Leadership Team.

3. Market Positioning:
• Work with Competitive Intelligence and Sales Enablement team to enhance our messaging to highlight differentiation against key competitors and ensure that Sales is fully enabled on messaging for each situation
• Help the business continuously refine our market positioning based on market dynamics and competitive intelligence.

4. Industry Evangelism and Influence:
• Identify key opportunities to build relationships with industry influencers and organizations that influence buying decisions for enterprise Cloud HCM technology
• Regularly brief and update influencers on UKG differentiation
• Speak, evangelize, and present on UKG differentiation at key industry events
• Evaluate potential collaborations and recommend strategic moves.

5. Thought Leadership:
• Stay informed about industry trends, technological advancements, and competitive shifts.
• Share insights and thought leadership within the organization to drive informed decision-making.
• Work with Human Insights team to develop differentiated thought leadership presentations aimed at differentiating UKG from key competitors


Required Skills:

• 3-5 years of experience working in the HCM technology space
• 3-5 years minimum experience in Sales, Marketing, Competitive Intelligence, Sales Enablement, Analyst Relations, or Product Management at a leading Cloud Human Capital Management provider (such as UKG, Workday, ADP, or Ceridian.)
• 3-5 years minimum experience in developing and executing on strategic go-to-market programs and project management

Basic Qualifications:

• 10 years of industry experience
• 8 years of experience relating to market analysis and competitive research

Preferred Qualifications:

• 2-4 years B2B experience presenting on HCM technology to large audiences of 100 or more
• Analytical Acumen: Ability to dissect complex data, draw meaningful conclusions, and translate insights into actionable strategies.
• Strategic Thinking: A forward-thinking mindset with the ability to anticipate market shifts and proactively respond.
• Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey strategic recommendations clearly.
• Collaboration: Comfortable working across teams and influencing stakeholders at various levels.
• Adaptability: Thrives in a dynamic environment and adapts quickly to changing market conditions.
• Passion for Innovation: An innate curiosity and passion for staying ahead of industry trends.
• Direct experience as an HR or payroll practitioner a bonus
